A few things have happened since I last posted. Niko Snow came to Cali for a visit and we to kick it for about a week. THAT was very much teh fun! <3
*The film festival i helped organize didnt really turn out that well. In fact, it was quite teh LAME. After the shorts were played, the directors got up on stage and the audience would ask a question. After Ti-30x, a girl came up and asked where I came up with the idea and bla bla blah, then MAX J. comes up to the mic and asks "where did you get all that stock footage?" just cos he knows that i get pissed off by that question. I must say it was very very hard not to laugh. In a sense, i was glad that he asked that just so i could boast about making all the footage from scratch, cos even the judges thought that i had stock footage thrown in there.. *shrug* thanks Maxy.
*Speaking of Ti-30x I was able to finally figure out how to compress it into a VERY high quality and sexy looking QUICKTIME file that's only 38 megs for my portfolio. You can check it out here at http://www.vladypus.com/vyncentflaw/ti30x.mov . Only downside is that you need the NEWEST version of quicktime to watch. Eh, its much MUCh better than the DIVX version.

*Went to Richee's place last weekend and finally finished my cover of UNCLE. Check THAT out at http://www.myspace.com/vyncentflaw . Also worked on a couple tracks for the new VYNCENT FLAW cd. I think they sound good so far, but I dunno if Richee likes the new "happier" style or not. eh.
Also got to watch the movie UNDEAD with Stammy while Richee was mixing down tracks. THAT MOVIE IS FUCKIN GREAT and I'll be buying me a copy of it this weekend.
*Talked to Nils about the UNCLE OUTRAGE video, and he's gunna be payin me 300 bucks for it. That's pretty much the last time i'm gunna get payed that little for a video. The video for Daiquiri is gunna be 90 bucks because Mike Hickey is broke as hell, the video for Richee was 100 cos he's my friend, and the video for BM is the price of a plane ticket to KENTUCKY to film it. From HERE ON OUT it's going to be at LEAST 500 bucks a video. Hey, if that douche fucking DARKHAK (www.darkhak.com) can do it, i can too.
*I'm thinkin bout dropping the VYNCENT FLAW name and just goin by Mike Diva.
*Got a film crew, location, and actors together for the DAIQUIRI video, FINALLY. FIlming it on Sunday, the 29th in san fransisco and sacramento. One location is an abandoned hospital, and one is a factory. It should be... EPIC.
*My new computer is in the process of being made!! It's an ALIENWARE MJ-12 WORKSTATION computer. Dual processor, a gig of ram, all that good sheet. I was able to get it with the money from winning the T.O.Y film festival. I'm soo happy :)
*I sorta feel bad due to the fact that EVERYONE who ordered a Vyncent Flaw cd in the last 3 months, has not gotten anything because I sold out. About 15 people are pissed at me now.
So dats all that's going on wiff ME right now.. I always feel like a douche talking about myself so much, but certain people were telling me I need to update this shit, so i'll fill it with a big chunk of info every now and then.

I've been listening to a lot of shit recently. Brainwashing myself with pop music. AQUA, VENGA BOYS, N SYNC, THE KILLERS. I'm going to be covering N SYNC- POP. Because I like the track, and because I can. Also, I'm gunna be recording vox for my cover of UNCLE at richees soon.
I'm going to Canada next sunday for a Film Workshop. I'll be coming back with a 10 minute short film that will hopefully turn out pretty good. Speaking of short films, I really really need to get on filming this Daiquiri video. Most of it will be green screen so I'll just talk to my producer Laura about renting out a studio. It'll be starring Luis Zavala.
That's another thing, I have a soft spot for putting my friends in my projects, so we can laugh about it later. Richee is going to be playing the Mad scientist in the UNCLE OUTRAGE video I'm doing later this year. It should be entertaining.
ANNOUNCEMENT: ANYONE IN THE SACRAMENTO AREA SHOULD COME TO THE SACRAMENTO FILM FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY AT 7 TO CHECK OUT MY VID TI-30X AT THE CREST THEATER! There's a 10 dollar admission fee.

1. This WE ARE THE SCENE shit is sounding fantastic! I'm looking foreward to hopping in the studio again with Richard and Luis to lay down some more fresh shit that you kids are gunna eat up!
2. In other news I decided to paint more. I'm working on a picture now. I'll post it up here when I'm done
3. I love talking to Niko. She makes me teh happy. There is more drama goin' on and its silly stilly stuff. Silly. All of you.

5. SIN CITY PARTY AT MY PLACE TUESDAY.
6. I've been really really really putting off my fuckin video for Daiquiri, and my video for the new york film festival. I guess it has to do with me going back to music. I suppose I can't do both film and music at the same time. I guess this has to do with the fact that I am a moron. Yes.. yes it does.
7. Speaking of the Daiquiri video, it will be insane and it will take me much longer than I thought it would. Check it:
It starts in a dimly lit room. A guy is strapped to a chair, while a mad doctor is getting a sharp needle prepared. He grabs hold of the guys head and gives him a RETNAL SHOT (labeled "DAIQUIRI"). Yes.. the doctor injects Daiquiri into a mans eyeball. The guy of course, is screaming like mad and wriggling around. As soon as the crazy doctor pulls the shot out, the song starts and everything starts flashing different colors. The guy starts seeing the strangest things (like glowing multicolored versions of DAIQUIRI performing in front of the psychadelic walls). He manages to escape by breaking off his straps and attacking the doctor with one of his own knives. He runs out of the room and out of the room. He runs alongside other rooms and sees other patients inside still strapped to their chairs and tweaking out. He manages to escape the building and is trying to escape what seems to be a strange factory. The problem is that the entire time he is battling psychotic psychadelic visions (the buildings turning into flowers, melting doors, more daiquiri playing). He finally gets over the strange things he's seeing and runs off into the distance to "freedom". However at the end of the song, the camera pans out of the mans eye, and you realize has been strapped into the chair the entire time. He has a blank stare on his face and some sort of technicolor liquid dripping out of his open mouth. The doctor packs up his shots and equipment and walks out of the room.
THE END.
It should be really entertaining.

*SHUT ME UP video for MSI. The plot and the idea is fucking CRAZY. You kids will love it, and I promise it will be much better than Jhonens. *GASP!* Blasphemy!

First off, everyone knows that Vyncent Flaw + Switchee + Squirrel Army = We are the scene.

Believe it or not I decided that I've overworked myself with film shit, and I'm sorta burnt out at the momment. I tried doing some more shit for the daq video last night (watch it here: http://www.vladypus.com/vyncentflaw/daqqq2.avi) and it didnt turn out to my liking. So i'm going to take a break and get back into MUSIC finally. :)
So Richee, Luis and I decided that we're going to make this crazy fucking experimental Gorillaz sorta supergroup cd under the "we are the scene" moniker. Now I'm not done with VF stuff, nor is richee done with Switchee stuff, but heres whats so cool about this project: On this cd there's gunna be switchee tracks, VF tracks, Squirell Army tracks, and tracks with all of us together. Basically It's freedom between all three of us. So we start workin on it in Richee's studio Tuesday and I'll post some clips here, and on the VF myspace when I get back. Luis sent me some of his vox over my electronics and I'm very excited to be working with him.
Also, I'm going to be moving to San Fran next year when i go to SFAI and Richee and I are in talks to get a little aparment studio together. Then our combined creative juices shall flow down the streets of San Fransisco and drown the local people in the liquid of our collective sceneness. |

I havent posted in a while. I've been really busy with stuff that has to do with being busy like going out with people and watching people drink boooze and then going home and sleeping for 12 hours and then going out and watching more people drink boooze.
THE SCENE PARTY:
well, you all know there was a 3 day scene party so there really is not much to talk about. I kicked it with my friends i havent see in a while, and lots of fun was had. I also got to see a private Daiquiri show which was amazing for me because they are like my 3rd favorite band. Then I played a show the first 2 nights, one completely without electricity. YESTERDAY: So little miss exciting (Natalie the photographer chick) calls me up and wants to go to a party with me. I say 'why not' and decide to go. I end up hanging around more of my old friends standing around getting drunk and smoking. The topic of the new HARRY POTTER book came up and they convinced me to go buy it. I did. I still havent opened it yet. Anyways, at this party I decide that I'm going to do a show, so I plug my ipod into the PA system, and get a mic and perform for the random people coming in and out of the house. It was quite fun and I managed to break a lighting fixture and get a couple noise complaints. I decided I LOVE doing partys.
PS: Natalie talked to me a total of 3 times the entire party. She's not only boring, she has the personality of a brick and an attention span of about 3 seconds. I decided the only reason I'm going to hang out with her again is because she's getting me and Richee a show with Ozomatli.
TODAY: Finally got the Donnie Darko sound track. Feeeeelin sorrrrta lonely I think. Oh well! AMP energy drink now comes in BIG Tall boy cans, so life isnt that bad is it?

the "Things are starting to look good" list:
1. So to make up for my lack of being at the NYC shows, I went to see BECK on monday. I was in the very front row, and he was excellent. I had the most fun i've had since.. well.. MSI in SF...
2. Me and Johnny went to the hardware store the other day with a 100 dollar bill, and came back with no money and a bunch of robot parts... Yes, we made a robot puppet for the video. It actually looks pretty cool. I like robots, they make me happy. Anywaysssss the deadline for t3h music video has been pushed forward to the 17th so THAT is when i shall put it online. It's looking great so far.
3. Yesterday John, Brennan, and Faythy came by and we watched EVIL DEAD 2. Fucking GREAT movie.
4. I finally ordered my DVX-100a camcorder, and just found out its the same camcorder that MSI is using for their DVD. It's very very very sexy.
5. This lady ELANA, who has produced some shit with the fat bastard himself, George Lucas, wanted me to send some of my film work to her. I got a DV tape and put on my old "Hope" psa, the pixy styx vid, and a rough cut of the music video i'm currently working on. She watched em, and she is now paying to submit the newest music video to the SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL. She's also going to be flying me out to Florida to shoot a PSA called "The door to diversity", also for the SUNDANCE. I cant wait to go to the festival, hopefully I'll meet some cool film makers and get some recognition. Things seem to be looking good for me, and I apologize for all the people i've ignored while locked in my room working on this music video for the past 2 months.
AAANYWHO i'm glad all yoo NYC kids are back. I wish i couldve gone. :(

Niko and Ark decided to call me up at 6 in the morning today, therefore I got less than 2 hours of sleep. It was worth it though because this conversation ensued:

And then Ark decided to play keyboard for like 10 minutes straight. Twas fun, but needless to say I'm jealous of all the people going to NY. :(

Just got off the phone with Niko. I like talking to people that make me feel like that. Its very very rare when i find a girl that I can just talk to and feel completley comfortable and have a lot in common with. I really think that most of the girls in the sacramento area are complete morons.
The Button*masher album and Nikos cute keyboard playing makes me want to dive back into music. I wish i had more time :(. I'll start working on a new album when I'm done with this video. I want to make a cd that makes people feel good about themselves. A cd with songs that people can listen to over and over when they need to feel better. I guess I wanna make a cd for myself. Electronic hip hoppy rap rock songs get old.
In other news,
I'm really worried about my teeth... I was looking at them and i realized that i have horrible tooth hygene. I brush once every night, and thats it. Also, after i had braces, i never wore the retaner. So therefore my teeth are getting worse and worse.. or maybe i'm just freakin myself out. |

Today is the day when everyones supposed to go out, party, get drunk, and have random unprotected sex with strangers..... Or is that New Years? I can never get those two straight. Anyways today I stayed at home alone, working on the music video... Come to think of it, this is what i've been doing for the past 2 months.. every day.
Around 9 i was awaiting the release of the new SEXCOPTER RUL album, "MITER SAW", which i was pretty excited about.
Plus, i made the cover art so I feel special.

I think Ark has really matured a lot and this album has a very EPIC and MOODY feel to it. Its great that he doesnt have to rely on potty humour to make good music. Kudos to ark! Fantastic work! The songs PLACEBO and CONFUSED are my favorite. Not to mention the song TANKED where you can hear me babbling about "fucking crying on people" and laughing maniacally at the end.
I'll be making a promo video for the album in a couple weeks. THe video will be as follows:
A kid in a room just sitting there for about 4 seconds. Then a fucking saw blade completely decapitates him out of nowhere. The camera pans down to the words "MITER SAW" written on a table. The words SEXCOPTER RUL fade in above it. THE END
It will be kickass hopefully and i'll post it here, and on my director website when its done.
Speaking of getting things done, the MUSIC VIDEO that i have been working on for 2 months is going to be finished on July 15th. I'll be posting that online right away so stay tunned. :) |

Just got back from a nice little convention thing in San Fran. Me and a film crew made a short film in 3 days that was shown in front of a board of 200 people. The end result was 2 people crying, and about 20 compliments. A nice lady named Elana said she could get it into the Sundance film festival, and another nice lady offered to pay money for it to show to her film classes. It made me depressed. I don't want some video made in 3 days to be shown at the Sundance, I find that embarrassing as hell. It's all bullshit. The video was made with a bunch of un needed special effects and some stupid "meaning" about unity and diversity that I only did because they made me choose that topic. Hell if it were up to me the video would be about a renegade cop blasting the fuck out of zombies. But now i'm some fucking Unity and diversity film maker who makes shorts with MEANING. Some lady came up to me and told me to never stop making films with a purpose and a message. I dont even know what to think. The music video i'm working on at the moment has a rotating head floating around a disfigured decapitated torso, A robot arm made out of a human arm, A man in a hallway with no eyes and a horribly disfigured body, and a walking box that gets smashed to hell. Take THAT lady! Find a fucking purpose and a message in that bitch!
I'm going to go out and make a zombie movie now. |
